The Question of Injustice
(Discovering God II)
Pastor: Josh Miller
Date: 11 April 2010
Notes by: Robert Grandin
Some comments:
- If we're surrounded by brokeness and ``crookedness'', where do we get
our sense of justice? Like a jungle tribe which is isolated.
- Our sense of justice points us to a God who is just.
- Because of our sin, our sense of justice is bent/warped/broken. Not
getting what we want is not necessarily unjust.
Correcting our sense of justice
- Justice always acknowledges the suffering of the weak. Contrast
Pharoh's lack of knowledge about Joseph to God's knowledge of him (Exodus
1:8).
- Justice always walks in the shoes of the weak. God allows Himself to be
touched by the injustice (Exodus 3:7).
A model of God's justice
- The exodus: freedom for a purpose.
- Combines spiritual truth and social action.
- The purpose: so they would become God's people and worship Him.
Social action without spiritual truth destroys us as people.
